Leaf-mine: The mine is at the leaf margin and usually between two lobes. It has some similarities to that of the moth Dyseriocrania subpurpurella, but is smaller when mature and is darker due to the frass adhering to the inner surface of the mine. The Eriocrania mine also has the typical 'spaghetti' frass (British leafminers). The mine is also illustrated in Nederlandse bladmineerders.

Larva: The larva is illustrated in British leafminers and Nederlandse bladmineerders.

Pupa: Inside or outside the leaf (British leafminers).
