Comments: Like other species of Melanagromyza it is likely to be a stem or root borer or galler.

Time of year - adults: June.

Distribution in Great Britain & Ireland: Described from a single specimen collected in north Wales, Denbigh (Cefn-y-bedd) (Spencer, 1972b: 17) and subsequently reared from Heracleum sphondylium in south Wales (Spencer, 1990).
