Stem-borer:
Normally a borer in stems or flowers. Oviposition generally in the
base of the midrib. The larva tunnels deep in the tissues of leaves
and stem. Pupation in stem or root (Spencer,
1973b) - see also Bladmineerders van Europa.
Larva:
The larva is described by de Meijere (1926,
as lateralis) and Dempewolf (2001).
Posterior spiracles each with 16 bulbs.
Puparium:
Detials unknown.
Comments:
Described as a serious pest of cultivated chicory (Cichorium)
in Belgium and The Netherlands (Spencer,
1966b).
