Five species of Aira are recorded in Britain. These include the native Silver Hair-grass (A. caryophyllea) and Early Hair-grass (A. praecox).

No Diptera miners are recorded on Aira in Britain.

Elsewhere the agromyzids Chromatomyia nigra and Liriomyza flaveola are recorded mining Aira.

No non-Diptera miners are recorded on Aira in Britain.

A key to the European miners, based on characteristics of the mines, immature stages and where relevant the larval cases, recorded on Aira is provided in Bladmineerders van Europa. This includes Liriomyza flaveola and Chromatomyia nigra.
