BRIZA. Quaking-grasses. [Poaceae]


Only one species of Briza is native in Britain - Greater Quaking-grass, (B. maxima). Lesser Quaking-grass (B. minor), Quaking-grass (B. media) and B. humilis have been introduced.

No dipterous miners are recorded on Briza in Britain.

Elsewhere the agromyzids Cerodontha incisa, Chromatomyia nigra and Liriomyza flaveola and the ephydrid Hydrellia griseola are recorded mining Briza.

One non-dipterous leaf-miner is recorded on Briza in Britain.
