BRYONIA. White Bryony. [Cucurbitaceae]

White Bryony (B. dioica) is the only species of Bryonia recorded in Britain.

Only one dipterous miner, the polyphagous agromyzid Chromatomyia horticola, has been recorded on Bryonia in Britain.

The agromyzids Liriomyza huidobrensis and Liriomyza trifolii, polyphagous pest species of ornamental and vegetable crops occasionally intercepted at UK points of entry, are recorded on Bryonia. Both species have been found under glass in England and Wales. All populations have been and continue to be eradicated.

Elsewhere the polyphagous agromyzids Liriomyza bryoniae, Liriomyza huidobrensis, Liriomyza strigata and Liriomyza trifolii are recorded mining Bryonia.

No non-dipterous miners have been recorded on Bryonia in Britain.
