CARDAMINE. Bitter-cresses and Cuckooflowers. [Brassicaceae]


Fifteen species of Cardamine recorded in Britain. These include the native species Coralroot (Cardamine bulbifera), Cuckooflower (Cardamine pratensis), Hairy Bitter-cress (Cardamine hirsuta), Large Bitter-cress (Cardamine amara), Narrow-leaved Bitter-cress (Cardamine impatiens) and Wavy Bitter-cress (Cardamine flexuosa).

No dipterous miners are recorded on Cardamine in Britain.

Elsewhere the agromyzid Liriomyza strigata and the drosophilid Scaptomyza flava are recorded mining Cardamine.

Elsewhere the agromyzid Ophiomyia alliariae is recorded an external stem miner on Cardamine (Spencer, 1990).

No non-dipterous miners are recorded on Cardamine in Britain.
