CEPHALANTHERA. Helleborines. [Orchidaceae]

Three species of Cephalanthera are recorded in Britain. These include White Helleborine, (C. damasonium), Narrow-leaved Helleborine (C. longifolia) and Red Helleborine (C. rubra). All are native.

Red Helleborine (C. rubra) is protected under Schedule 8 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act, 1981.

Only one dipterous miner, the psilid Chyliza vittata, is recorded on Cephalanthera and other orchids in Britain.

Elsewhere the scatophagid Parallelomma vittatum is recorded mining Cephalanthera.

No non-dipterous miners are recorded on Cephalanthera in Britain.
