CINERARIA. [Asteraceae]


Five species of Cineraria are recorded in Britain. All are introduced.

No dipterous miners are recorded on Cineraria in Britain.

The agromyzid Liriomyza huidobrensis a polyphagous pest species of ornamental and vegetable crops occasionally intercepted at UK points of entry, is recorded on Cineraria and has been found under glass in England and Wales. All populations have been and continue to be eradicated.

Elsewhere the polyphagous agromyzids Chromatomyia horticola, Chromatomyia syngenesiae and Liriomyza huidobrensis are recorded mining Cineraria.

No non-dipterous miners are recorded on Cineraria in Britain.
