COTULA. Buttonweeds and Leptinellas. [Asteraceae]

Thirteen species of Cotula are recorded in Britain. These include Annual Buttonweed (C. australis), Buttonweed (C. coronopifolia), Ferny Buttonweed (C. bipinnata), Hairless Leptinella (C. dioica) and Leptinella (C. squalida). All are introduced.

No Diptera miners are recorded on Cotula in Britain.

Elsewhere the agromyzids Chromatomyia horticola, Phytomyza pullula and Phytoliriomyza scotica are recorded mining Cotula.

No non-Diptera miners are recorded on Cotula in Britain.

A key to the European miners, based on characteristics of the mines, immature stages and where relevant the larval cases, recorded on Cotula is provided in Bladmineerders van Europa. This includes Chromatomyia cf. syngenesiae, Liriomyza xanthocera Phytomyza pullula.
