DIPSACUS. Teasels. [Dipsacaceae]

Five species of Dipsacus are recorded in Britain. These include the native Wild Teasel (D. fullonum) and Small Teasel (D. pilosus).

Five dipterous miners, the agromyzids Agromyza dipsaci, Aulagromyza similis, Chromatomyia ramosa, Chromatomyia scabiosae and Chromatomyia succisae are recorded on Dipsacaceae in Britain.

Two of these, Agromyza dipsaci and Chromatomyia ramosa, are recorded on Dipsacus, three of these, Aulagromyza similis, Chromatomyia ramosa and Chromatomyia succisae, are recorded on Succisa and Knautia, and one of these, Chromatomyia scabiosae, is recorded on Scabiosa. A single key to the mines on Dipsacaceae is provided.

See SUCCISA.

Elsewhere the agromyzids Agromyza dipsaci, Chromatomyia ramosa and Chromatomyia succisae are recorded mining Dipsacus.

No non-dipterous miners are recorded on Dipsacus in Britain.
