EUPHORBIA. Spurges. [Euphorbiaceae]


Thirty-three species of Euphorbia are recorded in Britain, twelve of which are native.

Two dipterous miners, the agromyzids Liriomyza pascuum and Liriomyza strigata, are recorded on Euphorbia in Britain.

Elsewhere the agromyzid Liriomyza strigata is recorded mining Euphorbia.

No non-dipterous miners are recorded on Euphorbia in Britain.

1> Blotch mine. A conspicuous blotch, with characteristic greenish diffused frass, several larvae frequently feeding together.

Liriomyza pascuum (Meigen) [Agromyzidae].

->A distinctive mine primarily above mid-rib, with irregular short lateral offshoots into leaf blade. Pupation external.
