GAILLARDIA. Blanket Flower. [Asteraceae]

Blanket Flower (G. aristata) is cultivated in gardens in Britain.

The polyphagous agromyzids and Chromatomyia horticola and Liriomyza strigata is recorded on Gaillardia in Britain.

The agromyzids Liriomyza sativae and Liriomyza trifolii, polyphagous pest species of ornamental and vegetable crops occasionally intercepted at UK points of entry, are recorded on Gaillardia. Liriomyza trifolii has been found under glass in England and Wales. All populations have been and continue to be eradicated.

Elsewhere the polyphagous agromyzids Chromatomyia horticola, Chromatomyia syngenesiae, Liriomyza sativae, Liriomyza strigata and Liriomyza trifolii are recorded mining Gaillardia.

One non-dipterous leaf-miner is recorded on Gaillardia in Britain (see below).
