GAZANIA. Treasureflower. [Asteraceae]

.The introduced Treasureflower (Gazania rigens) is the only species of Gazania recorded in Britain.

Two dipterous miners, the agromyzids Chromatomyia 'atricornis' and Liriomyza strigata, are recorded on Gazania in Britain.

The agromyzids Liriomyza huidobrensis and Liriomyza trifolii, polyphagous pest species of ornamental and vegetable crops occasionally intercepted at UK points of entry, are recorded on Gazania. Both species have been found under glass in England and Wales. All populations have been and continue to be eradicated.

Elsewhere the agromyzids Chromatomyia horticola, Liriomyza huidobrensis, Liriomyza strigata and Liriomyza trifolii are recorded mining Gazania.

No non-dipterous miners are recorded on Gazania in Britain.
