HELICHRYSUM. Everlastingflowers. [Asteraceae]


Nine species of Helichrysum are recorded in Britain. All are introduced and include the Everlastingflowers.

No dipterous miners are recorded on Helichrysum in Britain.

The agromyzid Liriomyza trifolii, a polyphagous pest species of ornamental and vegetable crops occasionally intercepted at UK points of entry, is recorded on Helianthus. The species has been found under glass in England and Wales. All populations have been and continue to be eradicated.

Elsewhere the polyphagous agromyzids Chromatomyia horticola, Chromatomyia syngenesiae and Liriomyza strigata are recorded mining Helichrysum.

Elsewhere the agromyzid Napomyzxa lateralis is recorded boring stems of Helichrysum.

No non-dipterous miners are recorded on Helichrysum in Britain.
