JASIONE. Sheep's-bit. [Campanulaceae]

Sheep's-bit (J. montana) is the only species of Jasione recorded in Britain. It is a native species.

Two dipterous miners, the agromyzids Chromatomyia horticola and Ophiomyia heringi, are recorded on Jasione in Britain.

A single key to the Diptera mines on Campanulaceae is provided.

See CAMPANULA.

The agromyzid Napomyza hirticornis is recorded boring stems of Jasione and Centaurea in Britain (Spencer, 1972).

Elsewhere the agromyzids Liriomyza strigata and Ophiomyia heringi are recorded mining Jasione.

No non-dipterous miners are recorded on Jasione in Britain.
