MOLINIA. Purple Moor-grass. [Poaceae]

Only one species of Molinia is recorded in Britain - Purple Moor-grass (M. caerulea). It is a native species.

One species of dipterous miner, the agromyzid Cerodontha pygmaea, is doubtfully recorded on Molinia in Britain. Miners on grasses should be reared, whenever possible, to confirm their identity.

See ARRHENATHERUM.

Elsewhere the agromyzids Cerodontha incisa, Cerodontha pygmaea and Chromatomyia nigra are recorded mining Molinia.

One non-dipterous miners is recorded on Molinia in Britain.
