OXALIS. Wood-sorrel. [Oxalidaceae]

Nineteen species of Oxalis are recorded in Britain. These include only one native species, Wood-sorrel (O. acetosella).

Only one dipterous miner, the anthomyiid Pegomya seitenstettensis, is recorded on Oxalis in Britain.

The agromyzid Liriomyza huidobrensis, a pest species of ornamental and vegetable crops occasionally intercepted at UK points of entry, is recorded on Oxalis. The species has been found under glass in England and Wales. All populations have been and continue to be eradicated.

Elsewhere the polyphagous agromyzids Liriomyza bryoniae and Liriomyza huidobrensis and the anthomyiid Pegomya seitenstettensis are recorded mining Oxalis.

No non-dipterous miners are recorded on Oxalis in Britain.
