PARTHENIUM. Santa-Maria. [Asteraceae]


Only one species of Parthenium is recorded in Britain. It is introduced.

No dipterous miners are recorded on Parthenium in Britain.

The agromyzids Liriomyza huidobrensis and Liriomyza sativae, polyphagous pest species of ornamental and vegetable crops occasionally intercepted at UK points of entry, are recorded on Parthenium. Liriomyza huidobrensis has been found under glass in England and Wales. All populations have been and continue to be eradicated.

Elsewhere the agromyzids Liriomyza huidobrensis and Liriomyza sativae are recorded mining Parthenium.

No non-dipterous miners are recorded on Parthenium in Britain.
