PEDICULARIS. Louseworts. [Scrophulariaceae]

Two species of Pedicularis are recorded in Britain - Marsh Lousewort (P. palustris) and Lousewort (P. sylvatica). Both are native species.

Only one dipterous miner, the agromyzid Phytomyza pedicularifolii, is recorded on Pedicularis in Britain and elsewhere in Europe.

The agromyzid Phytomyza tenella is recorded feeding in the seed heads of Pedicularis in Britain and elsewhere.

Elsewhere the agromyzid Phytomyza diversicornis is recorded feeding in the pith of stems, more rarely forming a true mine in the outer parenchymatous tissue.

No non-dipterous miners are recorded on Pedicularis in Britain.
