PETROSELINUM. Garden and Corn Parsley. [Apiaceae]

Two species of Petroselinum, the native Corn Parlsey (P. segetum) and the introduced Garden Parsley (P. crispum), are recorded in Britain.

One dipterous miner, the tephitid Euleia heraclei, is recorded on Petroselinum in Britain.

The agromyzids Liriomyza huidobrensis, Liriomyza sativae and Liriomyza trifolii, polyphagous pest species of ornamental and vegetable crops occasionally intercepted at UK points of entry, are recorded on Petroselinum.

See ANGELICA.

The agromyzid Napomyza carotae, is recorded on Daucus carota, however in larval transfer experiments in Switzerland (Weissman, 1961) found that the larvae developed normally in Apium, Heracleum, Pastinaca and Petroselinum.

Elsewhere the agromyzids Liromyza bryoniae, Liriomyza huidobrensis, Liriomyza sativae and Liriomyza trifolii and the tephritid Euleia heraclei are recorded mining Petroselinum.

No non-dipterous miners are recorded on Petroselinum in Britain.
