PETUNIA. Petunia. [Solanaceae]

Only one species of Petunia is recorded in Britain, the introduced Petunia (P. x hybrida).

No dipterous miners are recorded on Petunia in Britain.

The agromyzids Liriomyza huidobrensis and Liriomyza trifolii, polyphagous pest species of ornamental and vegetable crops occasionally intercepted at UK points of entry, are recorded on Petunia. Both species have been found under glass in England and Wales. All populations have been and continue to be eradicated.

Elsewhere the agromyzids Liriomyza bryoniae, Liriomyza huidobrensis and Liriomyza trifolii are recorded mining Petunia.

No non-dipterous miners are recorded on Petunia in Britain.
