PORTULACA. Common Purslane. [Portulacaceae]


Common Purslane (P. oleracea) and Rose Moss (P. grandiflora) are the only species of Portulaca recorded in Britain. They are both introduced species.

No dipterous miners are recorded on Portulaca in Britain.

The agromyzid Liriomyza trifolii, a polyphagous pest species of ornamental and vegetable crops occasionally intercepted at UK points of entry, is recorded on Portulaca.

Elsewhere the agromyzid Liriomyza trifolii and the drosophilid Scaptomyza graminum are recorded mining Portulaca.

No non-dipterous miners are recorded on Portulaca in Britain.
