PRENANTHES. Purple Lettuce. [Asteraceae]


Only one species of Prenanthes is recorded in Britain, the introduced Purple Lettuce (P. purpurea L.).

No dipterous miners are recorded on Prenanthes in Britain.

Elsewhere the agromyzid Liriomyza strigata, Ophiomyia cunctata, Ophiomyia heringi and Phytomyza marginella and the tephritid Trypeta immaculata are recorded mining Prenanthes.

The stem-miner Ophiomyia heringi is recorded elsewhere on Prenanthes.

No non-dipterous miners are recorded on Prenanthes in Britain.
