Time of year - mines: Unknown.

Time of year - adults: June and July (UKMoths). They are active during the day and both sexes visiting flowers. They have a slow flight (Catalogue of the Lepidoptera of Belgium).

Distribution in Britain: Occurs mainly in the south, but there are scattered colonies further north in such places as Cumbria and North Wales. This local species is found mainly on limestone outcrops and chalky habitats (UKMoths). Bedford, Berks, Bucks, Caernarvon, Chester, Denbigh, Derby, Dorset, Durham, East Gloucester, East Kent, East Sussex, Flint, Hereford, Herts, Merioneth, Mid-west York, Monmouth, North Hants, North Somerset, North Wilts, North-east York, Oxford, South Hants, South Wilts, South-east York, Stafford, Surrey, West Gloucester, West Kent, West Lancaster, West Norfolk, West Suffolk, West Sussex, Westmorland and Worcester (NBN Gateway distribution map - BRERC, JNCC and NE).

Distribution elsewhere: Widespread in Europe including Albania, Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, French mainland, Germany, Greek mainland, Hungary, Italian mainland, Liechtenstein, Macedonia, Republic of Moldova, Poland, ? Portuguese mainland, Romania, Russia - South, Sicily, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spanish mainland, Switzerland, Ukraine and Yugoslavia (Karsholt & van Nieukerken in Fauna Europaea).

Parasitoids: Unknown.
