Time of year - mines: July-August (Emmet, Watkinson & Wilson, 1985a).

Time of year - adults: The adult flies from September and overwinters (UKMoths).

Distribution in Britain: A very rare species in Britain, which has not been recorded reliably since the 1950's where it was noted in Gloucester. It is also believed to have been present in Northampton in the 19th century. A number of supposed records elsewhere are now believed to be misidentifications (UKMoths).

Distribution elsewhere: Widespread in Europe including Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, French mainland, Germany, Hungary, Italian mainland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Norwegian mainland, Poland, Portuguese mainland, Romania, Russia - Central and South, Slovakia, Sweden, Switzerland and Ukraine (Karsholt & van Nieukerken in Fauna Europaea).

Parasitoids: Unknown.
