Leaf-mine: Larva initially in a small mine, but later folding the leaf and feeding within (UKMoths). The mine is also illustrated in British leafminers and Nederlandse bladmineerders.

Time of year - mines: June-July (British leafminers).

Time of year - adults: The moths emerge in August and overwinter, reappearing in the following spring (UKMoths).

Distribution in Britain: The species was only discovered in Britain in 1970, and had a scattered northern and eastern distribution, but is now expanding its range and is fairly common in much of England, including Bedford (Studham) and Scotland (UKMoths), Banff, Cambridge, Derby, East Perth, East Ross, East Sutherland, Elgin, Isle of Wight, Kincardine, Lanark, Mid Perth, North Aberdeen, North Hants, South Northumberland, South Aberdeen, South Devon, South Hants, South Lancaster, South Wilts, West Kent and Worcester (NBN Gateway distribution map - BRERC, GiGL, HBRG, JNCC, NE, NESBRC, SNH and SHWRG).

Distribution elsewhere: Widespread in Europe including Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Danish mainland, French mainland, Germany, Hungary, Italian mainland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norwegian mainland, Poland, Romania, Russia - Central, Northwest and South, Slovakia, Spanish mainland, Sweden, Switzerland and The Netherlands (Karsholt & van Nieukerken in Fauna Europaea).

Parasitoids: Unknown.
