Leaf-mine: In Belgium the larva lives in a silken tube in the sand and feeds on the leaves of Cerastium fontanum touching the ground. Pupation in a cocoon in the sand (Catalogue of the Lepidoptera of Belgium).

Distribution in Britain: Widespread in Britain including Angus (Forfar), Banff, Berks, East Kent, East Norfolk, Elgin, Kincardine, North Aberdeen, North Ebude, Cheviotland, South Northumberland, South Aberdeen, South Devon, South Hants, West Cornwall, Westmorland (NBN Gateway distribution map - HBRG, JNCC, NE and NESBRC), the Channel Is. and Northern Ireland (Karsholt & van Nieukerken in Fauna Europaea).

Also recorded in the Republic of Ireland (Karsholt & van Nieukerken in Fauna Europaea).
