Leaf-mine: A species associated with coniferous woodland, which feeds internally on the needles (UKMoths).

Larva: The larva is a green-blue colour (British leafminers).

Pupa: In a white cocoon on the ground. The pupa is initially green, then darkens as it matures (British leafminers).

Time of year - mines: December - April (British leafminers).

Time of year - adults: The adult moths have quite a long emergence period, from March until July, when they can be attracted to light (UKMoths).

Distribution in Britain: Fairly well distributed throughout Britain, though less common in the north and west (UKMoths), including Bedford, Dumfries, East Ross, East Sutherland, Easterness, Hereford, South Devon, Surrey, West Gloucester and West Perth (NBN Gateway distribution map - BRERC, HBRG, NE and SNH) and the Channel Is. (Karsholt & van Nieukerken in Fauna Europaea).

Also recorded in the Republic of Ireland (Karsholt & van Nieukerken in Fauna Europaea).

Distribution elsewhere: Widespread in Europe including Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Czech Republic, Danish mainland, Estonia, Finland, French mainland, Germany, Greek mainland, Hungary, Italian mainland, Kaliningrad Region, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Norwegian mainland, Poland, Portuguese mainland, Romania, Russia - Central, North and Northwest, Slovakia, Spanish mainland, Sweden, Switzerland, The Netherlands and Ukraine (Karsholt & van Nieukerken in Fauna Europaea).
