Leaf-mine: The mine begins with a narrow gallery following the midrib or a vein, and then becoming a rectangular blotch with frass gathered towards one end (UKMoths). The mine is also illustrtaed in Belgian Lepidoptera.

Larva: White with green gut-line, head pale brown (British leafminers). The larva is also illustrated in Nederlandse baldmineerders.

Pupa: Details unknown.

Time of year - adults: The adult moths are on the wing in June (UKMoths).

Distribution in Britain: Distributed throughout England and Wales and into the southern half of Scotland, it is more localised in the north, but can be common elsewhere (UKMoths) including East Kent, East Perth, East Sutherland, Elgin, Hereford, Hunts, Kincardine, Lanark, Main Argyll, Middlesex, North Aberdeen, North Devon, North Hants, South Aberdeen, South Lancaster, South Wilts, South-west York, Stafford, Stirling, West Lancaster, West Perth, West Suffolk and Worcester (NBN Gateway distribution map - BRERC, GiGL, HBRG, NE, NESBR, SNH and SHWRG). Also recorded in the Republic of Ireland (Karsholt & van Nieukerken in Fauna Europaea).
