Distribution in Britain: Occurs widely throughout the British Isles (UKMoths) including Northern Ireland and Ireland (Karsholt & van Nieukerken in Fauna Europaea) and is fairly common (UKMoths) including East Cornwall, East Kent, East Sussex, Kincardine, Lanark, Middlesex, North Aberdeen, North Ebudes, North Hants, North Wilts, South Aberdeen, South Hants, South Lancaster, South Wilts, South-west York, West Cornwall, West Kent and Worcester (NBN Gateway distribution map - BRERC, GiGL,HBRG, JNCC, NE, NESBRC, SNH and SHWRG).

Distribution elsewhere: Widespread in Europe including Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Danish mainland, European Turkey, French mainland, Germany, Greek mainland, Hungary, Italian mainland, Norwegian mainland, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and The Netherlands (Karsholt & van Nieukerken in Fauna Europaea).
