Time of year - adults: The adult moths fly in June and July, and frequent grassland (UKMoths).

Distribution in Britain: From south-east England to southern Scotland (UKMoths) including Banff, East Ross, Elgin, North Ebudes, North Hants, South Aberdeen and South Lancaster (NBN Gateway distribution map - BRERC, HBRG, NE, SNH and SHWRG) and Northern Ireland (Karsholt & van Nieukerken in Fauna Europaea), but not present in south-west England and Wales (UKMoths).

Also recorded in the Republic of Ireland (Karsholt & van Nieukerken in Fauna Europaea).

Distribution elsewhere: Europe including Austria, Danish mainland, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Norwegian mainland, Romania and Sweden (Karsholt & van Nieukerken in Fauna Europaea).

Parasitoids: Unknown.
