Leaf-mine: An irregular gallery filled with greenish frass, leading to a circular or oval blotch with blackish frass arranged in a spiral fashion (British leafminers). The mine is also illustrated in UKMoths and Nederlandse bladmineerders.

Larva: The larva is illustrated in British leafminers and UKMoths.

Pupa: The coccon is illustrated in British leafminers and UKMoths.

Distribution in Britain: Widely distributed and fairly commonly throughout much of the British Isles (UKMoths) including Edinburgh, North Aberdeen, South Aberdeen, South Lancaster, South-east York, Surrey (NBN Gateway distribution map - BRERC, GiGL, LWIC, NE, NESBRC and SHWRG) and Northern Ireland (Karsholt & van Nieukerken in Fauna Europaea). It tends to inhabit suburban areas where Laburnum is grown in gardens (UKMoths). See also British leafminers distribution map.

Also recorded in the Republic of Ireland (Karsholt & van Nieukerken in Fauna Europaea).

Distribution elsewhere: Widespread in Europe including Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Danish mainland, French mainland, Germany, Hungary, Italian mainland, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Norwegian mainland, Poland, Romania, Sardinia, Slovakia, Spanish mainland, Sweden, Switzerland, The Netherlands and Yugoslavia. Also recorded in the Nearctic region (Karsholt & van Nieukerken in Fauna Europaea).
