Leaf-mine: The mine is less than 14mm long, single crease in lower epidermis. The frass random in summer, but in U- or V-shaped lining to cocoon in autumn (British leafminers). The leaf-mine is also illustrated in UKMoths and Nederlandse bladmineerders.

Larva: Details unknown.

Pupa: The cremaster is illustrated in British leafminers and Nederlandse bladmineerders.

Time of year - mines: June - July, September - October (British leafminers).

Time of year - adults: On the wing in May and June, and again in the autumn (UKMoths).

Distribution in Britain: Fairly common over much of Britain, but less so in Ireland (UKMoths) including Bedford, Cambridge, East Cornwall, East Kent, East Sutherland, Hereford, Hunts, Kirkudbright, Leicester, Middlesex, North Ebudes, Northampton, South Devon, South Lancaster, South Lincoln and West Lancaster (NBN Gateway distribution map - BRERC, DBRC, GiGL, JNCC, NE, SNH and SHWRG). Distribution elsewhere: Widespread in Europe including Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Danish mainland, Estonia, Finland, French mainland, Germany, Hungary, Italian mainland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Republic of Moldova, Norwegian mainland, Poland, Romania, Russia - Central, East, Northwest and South, Slovakia, Spanish mainland, Sweden, Switzerland and Ukraine. Also recorded in the Near East (Karsholt & van Nieukerken in Fauna Europaea).
