Leaf-mine: The mine is underside, small, seldom reaching midrib. The lower epidermis with several small creases (British leafminers), sometimes several larvae mine the same leaf. The mine is also illustrated in Nederlandse bladmineerders.

Pupa: The cremaster is illustrated in British leafminers.

Time of year - mines: September - October (British leafminers).

Time of year - adults: The adults fly mostly in August, but the species may be bivoltine, with moths also recorded in May (UKMoths).

Distribution in Britain: Throughout mainland Britain, though rare in the southern half of Scotland and in Ireland, it can be common in places (UKMoths) including East Perth, Hereford, Mid Perth, Middlesex, North Aberdeen, North Devon, North Hants, South Aberdeen, South Hants, South Wilts, South-west York and Stirling (NBN Gateway distribution map - BRERC, GiGL, JNCC, NE, NESBRC and SNH). Distribution elsewhere: Widespread in Europe including Albania, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Danish mainland, Estonia, Finland, French mainland, Germany, Hungary, Italian mainland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Republic of Moldova, Norwegian mainland, Poland, Portuguese mainland, Romania, Russia - Central, Northwest and South, Sardinia, Slovakia, Sweden, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Ukraine and Yugoslavia. Also recorded in Near East (Karsholt & van Nieukerken in Fauna Europaea).

Parasitoids: Unknown.
