Leaf-mine: The mine is usually underside, often twisting leaf into a cone (British leafminers). The mines can be quite abundant where it is found (UKMoths). The mine is also illustrated in UKMoths and Nederlandse bladmineerders.

Larva: Details unknown.

Pupa: The cremaster is illustrated in British leafminers and Nederlandse bladmineerders.

Time of year - mines: March - April, July - August, October (British leafminers).

Time of year - adults: Unusual among Phyllonorycter species in having three generations, with adults on the wing in November, as well as the usual May and August periods (UKMoths).

Distribution in Britain: A common and widespread species throughout the British Isles (UKMoths) including Clyde Isles, East Kent, Edinburgh, Haddington, Hereford, Herts, Hunts, Main Argyll, Middlesex, North Devon, North Hants, Salop, South Aberdeen, South Devon, Surrey, Warwick, West Cornwall, West Gloucester, West Kent, West Lancaster, West Suffolk, Worcester (NBN Gateway distribution map - BRERC, DBRC, JNCC, NE and SNH) and Northern Ireland (Karsholt & van Nieukerken in Fauna Europaea).
