Time of year - adults: Flying in May and June, the adults are sometimes attracted to light (UKMoths).

Distribution in Britain: Distributed sparsely throughout most of Britain (UKMoths) including East Cornwall, East Kent, Hunts, North Aberdeen, North Devon, North Essex, South Devon, South Somerset, Surrey, West Kent, Worcester (NBN Gateway distribution map - BRERC, DBRC, JNCC, NE and SNH), the Channel Is. and Northern Ireland (Karsholt & van Nieukerken in Fauna Europaea).

Also recorded in the Republic of Ireland (Karsholt & van Nieukerken in Fauna Europaea).

Distribution elsewhere: Widespread in Europe including Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Danish mainland, French mainland, Germany, Hungary, Italian mainland, Macedonia, Norwegian mainland, Poland, Romania, Sardinia, Sicily, Slovakia, Spanish mainland, Sweden, Switzerland, The Netherlands and Ukraine (Karsholt & van Nieukerken in Fauna Europaea).
