Distribution in Britain: Present over much of Britain (UKMoths) including including Berks, Clyde Isles, Derby, Dumfries, East Kent, East Perth, Forfar, Kincardine, Main Argyll, Mid Perth, North Ebudes, North Essex, South Aberdeen, South Ebudes, South Essex, Stafford, West Cornwall, Westmorland
(NBN Gateway distribution map - BRERC, HBRG, JNCC, NE, NESBRC and SNH) and Northern Ireland (Karsholt & van Nieukerken in Fauna Europaea). In dry and sandy places where the foodplant abounds (UKMoths).

Also recorded in the Republic of Ireland (Karsholt & van Nieukerken in Fauna Europaea).

Distribution elsewhere: Widespread in Europe including Albania, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Bulgaria, Corsica, Croatia, Czech Republic, Danish mainlan, Estonia, Finland, French mainland, Germany, Greek mainland, Hungary, Italian mainland, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Russia - Central, East, Northwest and South, Sardinia, Sicily, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spanish mainland, Sweden, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Ukraine and Yugoslavia (Karsholt & van Nieukerken in Fauna Europaea).
