Time of year - mines: Unknown.

Time of year - adults: The moth emerges late in the season, from September onwards. The adult flies at night. It is attracted to light and spends the winter as an adult (UKMoths).

Distribution in Britain: Fairly common species throughout much of Britain (UKMoths) including Bedford, Berks, East Cornwall, East Kent, Forfar, Hunts, Kincardine, Middlesex, North Devon, North Hants, North Lincoln, South Devon, South Essex, South Lancaster, South Lincoln, South Somerset, Surrey, Warwick, West Cornwall, West Kent, West Ross (NBN Gateway distribution map - BRERC, GiGL, HBRG, JNCC, NE, NESBRC, SNH and SHWRG) and the Channel Is. (Karsholt & van Nieukerken in Fauna Europaea). In woodland and damp areas where the foodplant is found (UKMoths).

Also recorded in the Republic of Ireland (Karsholt & van Nieukerken in Fauna Europaea).

Distribution elsewhere: Europe including Belgium, Danish mainland, French mainland and The Netherlands (Karsholt & van Nieukerken in Fauna Europaea).

Parasitoids: Unknown.
