Leaf-mine: Feeding is in leaf blotches, spun shoots and roots. Wilting greyish leaves, or frass in the crown of the plant may indicate a larva in the roots (UKMoths).

Larva: Details unknown.

Pupa: Pupae are found in the plant root from May to August (UKMoths).

Time of year - mines: Larvae are found from April to August. It is uncertain if there is more than one generation, or just a single protracted one (UKMoths).

Time of year - adults: June to September (UKMoths).

Distribution in Britain: Widespread, and often common, on saltings and hard-rock coasts of Britain (UKMoths) including Banff, Elgin, North Aberdeen, South Aberdeen (NBN Gateway distribution map - HBRG, JNCC, NE, NESBRC and SNH), the Channel Is. and Northern Ireland (Karsholt & van Nieukerken in Fauna Europaea).

Also recorded in the Republic of Ireland (Karsholt & van Nieukerken in Fauna Europaea).

Distribution elsewhere: Widespread in Europe including Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Danish mainland, Estonia, Faroe Is., French mainland, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, Italian mainland, Latvia, Norwegian mainland, Poland, Romania, Russia - East, Slovakia, Spanish mainland, Sweden, Switzerland and The Netherlands (Karsholt & van Nieukerken in Fauna Europaea).

Parasitoids: Unknown.
