Leaf-mine: A long gallery with dispersed frass (British leafminers). The mine is also illustrated in UKMoths and Nederlandse bladmineerders.

Larva: The larva is amber-yellow, head yellowish-brown (British leafminers).

Distribution in Britain: This species is probably the commonest and most widespread in the British Isles (UKMoths) including Banff, Bedford, Berks, Cheviotland, East Cornwall, East Ross, Edinburgh, Elgin, Haddington, Hunts, Kincardine, Middlesex, North Devon, South Northumberland, Oxford, South Aberdeen, South Devon, South Hants, South Lancaster, South Wilts, South-west York, Stafford, West Cornwall, West Kent, West Lancaster, West Suffolk (NBN Gateway distribution map - BRERC, DBRC, GiGL, HBRG, JNCC, LWIC, NE, NESBRC, SNH, SHWRG and SER), the Channel Is. and Northern Ireland (Karsholt & van Nieukerken in Fauna Europaea).
