Leaf-mine: A whitish blotch on upper side of leaf. As the mine ages it can become a very pale brown colour (British leafminers).

Larva: The larva is illustrated in British leafminers and Nederlandse bladmineerders.

Pupa: Pupation takes place in the mine, inside a circular chamber (UKMoths). The pupa is illustrated in Nederlandse bladmineerders

Distribution in Britain: Fairly common in deciduous woodland throughout much of Britain (UKMoths), including Chester, Denbigh, Dunbarton, East Kent, East Perth, East Sutherland, Hereford, Hunts, Kincardine, Kirkudbright, Lanark, Main Argyll, Middlesex, North Devon, North Essex, North Hants, North Somerset, Salop, South Aberdeen, South Devon, South Lancaster, South-west York, Stafford, Stirling, Surrey, West Kent, West Perth and Worcester (NBN Gateway distribution map - BRERC, DBRC, GiGL, HBRG, NE, NESBRC, SNH and SHWRG), the Channel Is. and Northern Ireland (Karsholt & van Nieukerken in Fauna Europaea).
